Cabin by the sea

By Bathroom, Bedroom, Colours, Flooring, Furniture, My work, Rugs, Wood One Comment

Rita and Arvid tok kontakt with me over a year ago. They owned a little cabin by the sea that needed a makeover. It was already quite old, outdated and because of its location and sentimental value they wanted to start using it with their own family til the sommer months.

Consideration to regulations of houses being so close to the sea, these days,  there was not much allowance for building out. In any direction! There was, though, allowed to build out the small terrasse by the kitchen. Here was placed glass sliding doors to bring the beautiful views and nature outside in.  Cladding out side the house was updated and modernized and at the same time a new terrasse was made at the entrance door. Inside walls were taken away between the kitchen and living room. The bathroom was made slightly bigger by building a little shower nook into the guestroom! Maksimalising the little space there was and a super good idea! There was made plenty of space for the garderobe in the guest room and walk-in garderobe in the main bedroom giving loads of room for extra storage. A window was suggested at the end of the hall in the entranceway adding extra light and giving extra depth to the hallway.

Take a look at all the pic’s under and get inspirert!

RoomDesign has come with advice, suggestions, ideas and space planning to the inside and outside, colours, kitchen design, bathroom design, furniture and lighting.

Natural wood, greys and linens

By Fireplaces, Homes abroad, Wood No Comments

Thursday’s interior inspiration comes from Australia. Beautiful natural greys and linens are pleasant on the eye. A splash of colour here would do the trick for me but the materials, textures and tone-on-tone colour scheme makes for a real relaxing styled interior.

New Mini Grow Lightshades

By Lighting, Wood No Comments

David Trubridge is an amazing designer, originally from Northern England but since 1985 has been living in New Zealand. And he gets alot of his inspiration from the nature we have in New Zealand.  LOVE!

His Mini Grow Lights range has just been launched at the 2012 Milan Design Fair. They have taken inspiration from their larger siblings Kina, Koura and Hinaki. I would say that they look pretty fantastic hanging in a group over a dining table or even in a stairwell.

I think I’m wanting them…

Thanks for dropping by,  have a good day :-)

Cool round shaped shelf

By Shelving, Wood No Comments

Loving this brilliant small round shelf, from a Inga Sempe in France, which can be used anywhere where space is a problem…me like! Check out and run the mouse over the picutres on her cool website with instructions of how you put it up on the wall. Fun!

Hoping you’re having a great Tuesday:)

Bringing the outside in!

By Fireplaces, Interior styles, Livingroom, Wood No Comments

I’m absolutely enthused… not that I’m looking forward to the long snowy months in front of us but this space is dreamy…the big windows, the white wooden paneling, the rustic cabin feeling is just amazing. I could sit at the window and watch all wild life go casually by…wouldn’t that be just fantastic! Brings nature right in. Now how’s that for inspiration…happy weekend:)

Living with wood

By Interior styles, Wood No Comments

We see more and more wood coming back into the home these days. And I think wood is a very soft and soothing material to use in contrast to the flat painted walls. Wood embraces us in an interior with the feeling of warmth and texture and can be very classy indeed –specially on walls. We just have to dare…
