Colour rocks

By Colours, Livingroom No Comments

Inspirational image from Trendr

Decorating with colour doesn’t have to so scary if you keep a neutral backdrop. I know many people would love to have more colour in their living spaces but get a bit jittery with the thought of mixing and matching the colours! But remember opposites! Backdrop neutral and rest of the room jeweled up with colour, as you can see in the picture above from this apartment in Stockholm. Use a complementary scheme of colours and then throw in some patterns and wham you’ve got impact! What do you think, are you a colour person or not?

Have a great day:-)

Looking dark and sexy

By Colours, Interior styles No Comments

I’m back… and ready for action.  Today I was looking for some dark and sexy and powerful inspiration just to get me started after the summer holidays. The sun is still shining here in Bergen but I just love this interior. The darkness of colour, natural materials with the use of both light and dark woods creates an unreal stunning and exciting combination for an interior… very exciting indeed. I’m lovin’ it.

Bathroom tips#3: Ignore the trends…Be exclusive!

By Bathroom, Colours 4 Comments

WHAT, are you saying? Be an individual, be chic, and exclude the boring. Okay now how can I put this into simple words… LETS GET SOME COLOUR into our lives? I’m often strolling through the ‘to sale’ advertisements on the net and I’m finding white, white and white in all the bathrooms! Now I do realize that if you are selling a house that it’s best to stick to a neutral, easy and white bathroom BUT for those of you who are just renovating your bathroom and not re-selling why not get a bit daring and quirky and opt for a colour other than white.

Simplicity is the key in a small bathroom, so limit the colour scheme and it’s a good idea to store unnecessary products in hidden spaces. In bigger bathrooms you can have a colour scheme in either different nuances or with different sized tiles in the same colour to create an exciting texture in the room. By putting shelves above the toilet or bathtub helps to create a stylish space to store hand towels and your favorite soaps or lotions.

Be warned: these colour schemes they might just knock your socks off…

Talk about a hamburger of a home colourful enough to eat

By Bedroom, Celebrity homes, Colours No Comments

You may well have seen these pictures out and about in the blogging world but wham this home is so much fun! This fabulous home belongs to Charlotte Gueniau who is the founder for Rice and she has opened her home in Denmark for a little peak in side. I see the conscious use of a singular colour turquoise in different shades throughout, as a backdrop for the interior, creates a very clean sharpness to the whole home. Well balanced rooms with an unexpected fun factor to the house. More more more please…

Have a fabulous Friday everyone and a great weekend!

Creating a home that makes you happy

By Colours, Interior styles, Livingroom No Comments

Don’t you sometimes feel like throwing your arms up in the air with frustration when looking at all the perfect homes pictured in all the interior magazines and blogs all over the world? I know I do. They look so flawless and totally immaculately put together. Yet my home looks like a bomb has gone off. Daily! With three young active noisy kids, a husband who’s constantly walking round repairing or fixing this and that, and a mad cat that drives hubby wild.

I could be breaking the illusion of an idealistic correct world out there but most of those fabulous homes as we know are styled to look so inviting. And sometimes just to be a bit naughty I visualize myself running into these homes in these magazines and blogs, and start throwing a few pillows around just to upset the balance for everyone. Skrek!

But I think in all of us we just want a lived in home that is decorated and surrounded with things we love in this world. Whether it is three noisy kids, fixing and repairing husband or a mad cat, they’re all things I love.

So if it is that perfected styled house or that eclectic mix of old and new or just be it your own style: be happy and follow your heart.   Put together a combination of personal elements and then choose a binding element that holds it all together –that could be colour, texture, or a theme.

Check out the skirting boards here in the picture. I just had to share this with you all. Unfortunately it was a while ago that I downloaded this picture and not sure of it’s source but it doesn’t stop us from appreciating the combination of colour, the fun of the coloured skirting boards and the dark sexy wood panel on the walls and the turquiose frame round the picture.

Looking through the porthole…

By Bedroom, Colours, Furniture No Comments

I feel almost like I shouldn’t be looking through the port hole, or maybe just a feeling of couriousity, just a wee look!    I see a wonderful collection of different colours, textures and a mix of different wallpapers for each wall. Very cool. I am totally for a contrast of different textures and patterns for walls and soft furnishing. It creates an exciting energy to the room.  We just have to play a little putting opposites together. Try it!

Happy weekend everybody.
