1 year old today! Hipp hurra! And on a fantastic sunny day to.

For a journey it has been this last year. All I can say is that I have been so lucky and fortunate to have had a fast and furious year.  Amazing clients, interior courses and the interior trade fair autumn last year has made the year full of FUN! (and hard work to say the least:-))

Who knows what lies in the cards for the next year at RoomDesign….

How NOT to style

By Interior styles No Comments

Well it’s really getting the best out of all your worldly loved treasures. Styling them. And we have many of them, right! Sometimes everything can look like an off loading dock! And that’s how NOT it should be done. It’s all just thrown together, on an off chance that it may look okay.

Maximize! I think you should show off everything that you love, BUT keep it interesting and unexpected and keep it airy! Layers of objects are an fantastic way of building up the area, giving all objects  a history. And by all means keep it organized. I have found some great example pictures here of what I mean.

Sneak peek…

By Bedroom, Colours, Flooring, My work, Patterns One Comment

Painting walls and ceilings dark has to be the most fantastic experience in interior I have come across. It may not be for everyone but if you should just try a room you will be amazed at why you haven’t done it before. And by no means did the room look any smaller in fact I felt the room expanded out not in. When one uses dark colour on the walls and ceilings and floors remember shots of colour and enough lighting are essential to create a right balance in the room.

These pictures are just a little detail preview to my daughter’s bedroom. More pictures of the whole room will come later.

New Mini Grow Lightshades

By Lighting, Wood No Comments

David Trubridge is an amazing designer, originally from Northern England but since 1985 has been living in New Zealand. And he gets alot of his inspiration from the nature we have in New Zealand.  LOVE!

His Mini Grow Lights range has just been launched at the 2012 Milan Design Fair. They have taken inspiration from their larger siblings Kina, Koura and Hinaki. I would say that they look pretty fantastic hanging in a group over a dining table or even in a stairwell.

I think I’m wanting them…

Quality not quantity

By Interior styles No Comments

Interiors should be a visual delight for the eyes. A home should say something about you. A home is your safe place where you can let your hair down and basically hang out in all ways you wish. I normally love interiors with a bit more oomph and guts but this place below there’s something that grabs me. It shows quality not quantity. It’s very minimal (God only knows where they store everything) simple and harmonic.

Definitely a relaxed hip pad. Love it.

Black, white and industrial

By Homes abroad No Comments

I was following my all favourite blog this morning Desire to Inspire and found this post which I just have to share with you. It’s an apartment for sale in Sweden and I love the style and interior. Combining black and white with the industrial look making it an awesome pad.  Check out the kitchen with all different chairs and different pendel lights over the dinner table. This place is rocking!!!
